When Iowa first launched, there was a rule that registration had to occur in-person. Today, online sports betting is available anywhere within state lines and as of January 1, 2021, registration available anywhere an internet connection is available via your computer or mobile device.

Illinois

FWEET! – (that’s supposed to be a whistle noise). FanDuel and DraftKings are headed to the penalty box to serve 18 months for being ‘bad actors’. Illinois casino owners felt like FanDuel’s DFS operations constitute gambling, and should have been treated as such. Thus, their continued operation was a violation of state law and deserving of a penalty. A three year ban was proposed, but the state decided that 18 months was fair.

West Virginia

West Virginia is different from the other states in that it has its own, independent sportsbook app. While other approved states in the U.S. are able to bet while using the same app, WV will require a separate download. The reason being that the West VA version also incorporates DFS.

Colorado
